Raised in Boardman, Jack attended Boardman High School. In 1962, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for four years. Returning to the area in 1966, Jack was employed by General Motors as an autoworker for Local UAW 1112. He retired after 42 years of service.

Jack was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, especially on Lake Erie, having breakfast with his retired buddies from Local UAW 1112, watching old cowboy movies, his favorite John Wayne, and the Pittsburgh Steelers (no choice of his own, but his wife Kay's.) Most important to Jack was spending time with his family and his grandchildren and their annual vacation to Myrtle Beach.

(Tammy) Danks, III of New Middletown; one daughter, Kathy (Guy) Franklin of Canfield; three grandchildren, Ashley and Courtney Franklin, both of Canfield and John F. Danks, IV of New Middletown; one brother, Frank (Cookie) Danks of Austintown; one sister, Martha Dripps of New Castle; brothers-in-law, Michael (Mary) Korda of Austintown and Richard (Gail) Korda of Weathersfield; and eighteen nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry and Buddy Roof and Robert Danks; one sister, Doris Tarr; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Richard Mikesell; and his four legged friend, his dog Sterling.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 11:00 AM at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home at the new location, 8536 Market Street, Boardman, 44512. Interment will follow at the Green Haven Memorial Gardens, Canfield, OH.
