Poland - John Costarell, 71, of Poland, died Monday morning at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
John was born May 11, 1940 in Youngstown, a son of the late Joseph P. and Genevieve Ryznar Costarell.
A 1958 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, John received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Youngstown State University in 1972. John was a supervisor for U. S. Steel for 14 years and then was a Maintenance Supervisor for the Poland Middle School for over 25 years retiring in 1985.
John was a 32nd Degree Mason with the Poland Lodge F&AM #766. For many years he was a treasurer for the American Field Service and was the host family for two exchange students, Humberto Juarez of Mexico and Maria Rebolledo of Venezuela. John had many interest especially in portrait and landscape photography and in the history of Poland Schools. Every Saturday once a month, John enjoyed joining his 1958 Woodrow Wilson Classmates for breakfast.
John was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1959 until 1963.
John leaves his wife, the former Faye Garrett, whom he married June 12, 1965; three sons, Sean (Joanna) Costarell of Leander, TX, Michael Costarell of Pulaski, PA, and Thomas (Jennifer) Costarell of Austintown; one brother, Ronald F. Costarell of Youngstown; and four grandchildren, Aimee, John, Allyson, and Thomas Costarell.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 10:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Private interment will follow later Friday afternoon at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Friends will be received Thursday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
