New Springfield - John "Jack" David Chapman, 91, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 in Woodlands Center for Rehabilitation. He was born September 19, 1925 in Youngstown, son of the late David and Edith Johnson Chapman.
He was a 1943 graduate of Canfield High School and proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. Following the war, Jack was employed as an instrument repairman with Republic Steel, retiring in 1972. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in New Springfield and several Amateur Radio Organizations in Mahoning County. His call sign was WA8GLF. Jack enjoyed bowling and was a member of area church bowling leagues for 60 years.
He leaves his children, Mark (DeAnna) Chapman of Maumee, OH, Margaret Storm of Pueblo, CO., David (Alice) Chapman of Poland, OH, John (Linda) Chapman of New Springfield and Keith (Sheri) Chapman of Petersburg; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Chapman on October 16, 2015 and his sister, Virginia Young.
There will be no calling hours. A private service was held for the family at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman. Interment was in Lake Park Cemetery.
