Youngstown - John L. Brocious, Sr. 80, of Youngstown, died Thursday morning, January 22, 2015 at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House.
John was born March 18, 1934 in Youngstown, a son of Homer and Myrtle Rusco Brocious.
He attended Woodrow Wilson High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for 8 years. John received his G.E.D. while in the service.
Returning to the area, John worked for Youngstown Steel Door and later as a Planner Engineer for McDonnell Douglas in St. Louis, MO. He retired December 27, 2006 from BOEING/ McDonnell Douglas after 19 years of service.
John was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, spending time at the Rose Garden at Mill Creek Park and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals.
He leaves two daughters, Debra Greene of Struthers and Jacqueline Renee Dugan of Boardman; two sons, John (Cheryl) Brocious Jr. of St. Louis, MO., and Donald Brocious of Boardman; ten grandchildren, George, Jason, Rhiannon, Jeremy, Daniel Richard, Justin, John, Daniel Allen, David, and Jessica; seven great-grandchildren, Jason, Autumn, Nicolina, Ethan, Amilliona, Jonathan and Johnathon David.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by two sisters, Edna Rich and Betty Packo; and two brothers, Alfred Brocious and Homer Brocious, Jr.
Funeral services will be held Saturday 10:00 AM at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Boardman with Pastor Richard Kidd officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
Friends and family will be received today from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street, Boardman, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 9:45 AM at the church.
