John Raymond Argiro Sr

November 15, 1917 — January 29, 2011

Struthers - John Raymond Argiro, Sr., 93, formerly of Struthers, passed away January 29, 2011 at the Hospice House.

John was born November 15, 1917 in Volant, PA, a son of the late Frank and Maria Femia Argiro and lived in Hillsville, PA before moving to Struthers.

John worked at Sharon Steel as a scarfer for 19 years and at Wean United for 19 years as a welder retiring in 1982. He also did cement work.

John loved gardening, music, and spending time with his family. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians. In later years, he enjoyed visiting his favorite restaurants and making bird houses and ships which he donated to elementary students at Youngstown City Schools.

He is survived by three sons, John Raymond (Palma) Argiro, Jr. of Mt. Jackson, PA, James (Jacquelyn) Argiro of Struthers, and Philip (Terri) Argiro of Boardman; daughter, Mary Argiro of Youngstown; three sisters, Ida Markovic of Youngstown, Virginia (Jake) Jacola of Mineral Ridge, and Inez Sinibaldi of Fort Meyers, Florida; five grandchildren, Amy (Joe) Argiro-DiDomenico, Lisa (Don) Argiro-Hetric, John Raymond (Melissa) Argiro, III, Philip (Lori) Argiro, and Ryan Argiro; and four great-grandchildren, Michael and Aaron Hetric, Matthew and Justin Argiro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Patsy, Frank, and Joseph Argiro; and a sister, Rose Propri.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received Monday from 4-7 p.m. and Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in John's name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Poland, Ohio 44514.
