Dublin - John T. Ambrozy, 74, formerly of Struthers died on Friday, January 1, 2016 in the comfort of his home. John was born December 17, 1941 in Youngstown and was a 1960 graduate of Struthers High School.
He proudly served in the United States Army where he obtained the rank of Sergeant. He was employed with General Motors Lordstown for 30 years, retiring in 1996. John grew up in St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church until his family relocated to the Columbus area where he became a member of St. Brigid of Kildare. He volunteered at the St. Nicholas Festival for many years. He was a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was also a member of American Legion Post #0290 in Columbiana, UAW Local #1112, the Struthers Gridiron Club, Struthers Baseball League and Elmton Golf League. He was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and loved watching his sons and grandchildren as they grew up playing sports.
He leaves his loving wife, Marsha Ambrozy, whom he married on October 31, 1964; three sons and their wives, John and Robin Ambrozy of Belpre, Michael and Angela Ambrozy of Sylvania and Ronald and Tina Ambrozy of Dublin; grandchildren: Daniel, Julia, Brandon, Brogan, Bria, Brenna, Owen and Jane Ambrozy; his sister, Sandy (Wade) Payne of Columbiana and brother, Rudy (Nila) Lodwick of Niles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Josephine Ambrozy, who raised him; and his mother, Helen Lodwick.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church on Friday at 12pm with the Rev. Fr. Bernard Bonnot as Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Friends will be received prior to the mass from 11-11:45am at the church.
