John W. Aldan Sr., 79 New Middletown-John W. Aldan Sr., 79, died early Monday morning at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center. He was born in West Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania May 14, 1925, a son of Dan and Christine Bugar Aldan. He came to the area in 1955. Mr. Aldan was a veteran of the United States Navy during WW II, having served on the USS Nevada. He was Operating Engineer for Local 66, which he was a member for 61 years. He was also a member of the Bessemer Croatian Club and Golf League. Mr. Aldan enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. He leaves his wife, the former, Anna I. Vasilcik, whom he married April 30, 1950; one daughter, Darlene (Robert Jr.) Wayland of Berlin Center; one son, John (Christine) Aldan of Poland; three sisters, Tillie (Bill) Turnbull of Campbell, Rose Zapolla of Mentor, OH, and Florence (Fred) Stelter of Wampun, PA.; two brothers, Dan (Frances) Aldan of Elwood City,PA; George (Gayle) Aldan of New Castle, PA; four grandchildren, Robbie and Carissa Wayland; and Jennifer and John Aldan. He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Padolan; and four brothers, Mike, Traen, Alexander, and Robert Aldan. Funeral services will be Thursday 1PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
