John E. âa�A"Jackâa�A� Adams, 81 Struthers- John E. âa�A"Jackâa�A� Adams, 81, formerly of Struthers, Ohio, died at 7:04 AM at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, Houston, Texas. Jack was born May 26, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of the late John and Elizabeth Hoagland Adams. Coming to Struthers in 1950, he found employment at Yallech Lumber Company, where he met his future wife, Mary Lou Reedy. Prior to marriage he served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from February 1943 through May 1946, seeing duty in the C.B.I. Theater. Attending Youngstown State University and achieving his realtors license, Jack was then employed as Vice President and General Manager of Galbreath Mortgage Companyâa�a��s Warren, Ohio office for 20 years, retiring in 1982. He served as the Northeastern Ohio President of the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers Chapter 63, and was a member of the Warren Area Board of Realtors. Jack married Mary Lou Reedy December 16, 1950. She preceded him in death on February 15, 2001. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Peggy Stefko and her husband, Bob of Poland, Ohio, Mrs. Barbara Gabis and her husband, Dr. Joe of Wheeling, West Virginia, and son John E. Adams Jr. and his wife, Pam of Houston, Texas. In addition, he leaves his beloved grandchildren, Miss Sarah Stefko of Poland, Mrs. Laura Stefko Miller (Brett), Silver Springs, Maryland, Miss Mara Gabis of St. Augustine, Florida, Mr. Damien Adams Gabis of Wheeling, West Virginia, Mrs. Scarlett Adams Reynolds (Ben) and Mr. Jack Everett Adams of Houston, Texas. Jack had a life-long love of animals manifested through his training of horses for the 4-H clubs and the numerous pets he loved and cared for throughout his life. All of his grandchildren have carried out his passion doing the same with their own multiple cats and dogs. Jack loved tending his vegetable garden, making âa�A"bacon breadâa�A� for his family, bowling, and smoking cigars, and in his later years, riding as a passenger on his son-in-law Joeâa�a��s Goldwing motorcycle. But, the love of his life was his wife, Mary Lou, to whom he was extremely devoted unto her death. His last years were spent wintering in Houston with son, J.R. and his family, and the remainder of the year residing with his daughter, Peggy and her family in Poland. Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main Street, Poland, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Lake Park Cemetery with a funeral luncheon immediately following at the Cunningham-Becker Family Center.
