BOARDMAN - Joanne "Joey" K. Bodnar, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 24, 2018.
She was born July 2, 1929 in Youngstown, a daughter of Ray E. and Louella Johnson Koken.
Joanne was a graduate of Niles McKinley High School and attended Kent State University. She had a long career as a secretary, working for Metal Carbides, General Foods, and McKay Machines/Wean United, where she met her husband, Richard E. Bodnar.
She and Richard were married on June 20, 1964. Following their retirement, Joanne and Richard traveled extensively, visiting all but three of the 50 states, as well as several destinations in Europe. In addition to traveling, she enjoyed reading, music and art.
Joanne leaves to cherish her memory her husband; son Michael Greenfield (Nancy Grimm); stepsons Thomas (Phyllis), Richard (Ann) and Kenneth (Patty) Bodnar; niece Amy Williams; grandchildren Rennie Greenfield, Michael Bodnar, Matthew Bodnar, Amanda Bodnar, Thomas Bodnar, John Mattingly, Bethany Garr and Lisa Earl; grand-nephew Scott Williams; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Lotus K. Donahay and nephew Jeff Donahay.
There will be no calling hours or services. Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Grace Hospice, 7206 Market St., Suite B, Youngstown, Ohio 44512, whose loving care toward Joanne and Richard has been invaluable.
