Joanne Garnet Peet, 77

POLAND - Joanne Garnet Peet, 77, died Aug. 2, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Joanne was born Nov. 6, 1935, in Washington, Pa., daughter of George and Opal Vankirk Russell.
A 1953 Brownsville High School graduate, Joanne became a bookkeeper but soon dedicated herself to the loving care of her family and home. She was an avid cook and baker, enjoyed sewing and knitting, as well as big holiday celebrations. Joanne was a member of the Cornerstone Presbyterian Church.
She also was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and a Girl Scout leader and camp director.
Joanne is survived by her husband, Willard Peet, whom she married, Aug. 6, 1957; four daughters, Cindy Peet and Kathy Paden of Poland, Kim (Jeff) Brothers of New Springfield, and Shelly (Robert Martinko) Peet of Solon; one sister, Shirley Rutherford of Strongsville; one brother, George Russell of North Ridgeville; six grandchildren, Kelly (fiancé Anthony Johnston) and Troy Brothers, Nicole Paden, Kristen (Christian) Kotheimer, Maya and Stephen Martinko; one great-grandchild, Alexis Kotheimer; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lyle Russell.
Services will be held at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home at their new location in Boardman, Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Wolfgang officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Friends will be received Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to
10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank Joanne¹s Pastor, Mark Bell, Dr. Ricciardi, and Shane Haddle for their compassionate care over the years.
