Joann (D'Orazio) Gugliotti passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 13th after a few months illness. Joann was born July 22, 1939 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Vincent and Theresa (Chairo) D'Orazio, and grew up in the Youngstown area. She attended Sacred Heart Elementary School and East High School. After high school, she went to Medical Assistant School in Cleveland where she made some lifelong friends before coming back to Youngstown.
The most important thing in her life was her family. Joann married her husband John Gugliotti in 1966. They spent a happy life together until his passing in 2004. They enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with family and friends. Together they raised three wonderful children who will mourn her loss greatly. John (Anna) Gugliotti of Springfield, VA, David (Melissa) Gugliotti of Lakewood, OH and Nicole Gugliotti of Dublin, OH. She has 3 beautiful grandchildren, Alessandra and John Marco Gugliotti in Virginia and Lucca in Cleveland.
Other close family members are her brother Robert (married to John’s sister Carmel) of San Marcos, CA and brothers in law Al, Jim, Guy, and Joe (deceased), who were more like brothers to her, and their families. Joann will also be missed by beloved feline friend, Amos, who brought her much joy and laughs (and some aggra vation).
Joann, also known as Joan by many, was a longtime member of St. Luke's Parish in Boardman where she spent time attending daily Mass, rolling kolachi dough, attending the Altar and Rosary Society meetings and rooting on the Bocce players. She also volunteered at Hospice of the Valley. Joann loved attending monthly lunches and planning events with her East High class of '57 classmates and her former coworkers.
Her favorite pastime was going to "The Y" and swimming, water aerobics and exercising with the many new and old friends there. Sometimes you could just find her by the pool with a good book. Joann worked as a medical secretary until her retirement, when she was working for Drs. Roth, Kramer and Solyn.
Joann was a loving, caring, thoughtful and giving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be missed by all who loved her. The family wishes to thank all those who helped her in any way over these last few months. It is very much appreciated.
Friends and family will be received on Friday February 16, 2018 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring Street, Struthers, Ohio. A prayer service will take place at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Luke Church in Boardman at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Lake Park Cemetery.
