Poland - Jo Ann Doughty, (formerly Jo Ann Aeppli) 78, of Poland, died Wednesday morning June 26, 2019 at her home. She was born July 10, 1940 in Youngstown, the only child of Joseph and Mary Bacic. She was a lifelong resident of Poland.
She was a 1958 Graduate of Poland High School and the Saint Luke's School of Nursing in Cleveland. Jo Ann was a registered nurse and had worked at Assumption Nursing Home in Youngstown for many years. She was a lifetime member of Poland Presbyterian Church where she had been a Deacon.
Jo Ann donated her time for Red Cross blood drives and church functions. She was a volunteer for the Board of Elections in Mahoning County for many years, and had been actively involved in the Poland Schools PTA. Later on, she dedicated time to tutoring local youths.
Jo Ann belonged to a card club ("Girls Club") with lifelong friends for almost 50 years. She also had a tremendous love of cats.
She leaves her two sons, Michael (Janice) Aeppli of Naperville, IL, and Charles "Chip" Aeppli of Tallmadge, OH, as well as her grandson, Braden.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, July 1, 2019 at the Poland Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Paul Anderson officiating. Friends may call from 2-4:00 PM Sunday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland.
