Struthers- Jo-Ann "Josie" K. Rigelsky, 81, died early Wednesday morning, October 29, 2014 at Maplecrest Nursing Home in Struthers.
Mrs. Rigelsky, affectionately known by many as "Josie," was born November 6, 1932 in Youngstown, the daughter of the late William and Corynne Thompson Daugherty, and has been a resident of Struthers since 1957.
She was a 1950 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Mrs. Rigelsky worked as a waitress at the Holiday Bowl in Struthers and for many years in the warehouse for Tamarkin.
Mrs. Rigelsky was a member of the Struthers Parkside Church, where she was a deacon and former Sunday School Teacher, and a former member of New Life Assembly. In her free time, she enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, baking, and sewing.
Her husband, Michael, whom she married January 12, 1952, died on October 11, 1988. She is survived by her four sons, Michael (Dottie) Rigelsky of Newton Falls, Philip Rigelsky of Youngstown, David Rigelsky of Struthers, and Bruce Rigelsky of Struthers; two grandchildren, Jessica Ann (Nate) Craik and Brandon Walter Rigelsky; and a great granddaughter, Evelyn Craik.
A funeral service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Friday from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
The family suggests that any memorial gifts take the form of contributions in Mrs. Rigelsky's name to Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave., Struthers, Ohio 44471.
Mrs. Rigelsky's family would like to express their appreciation and thank the staff of Maplecrest for the wonderful care they gave to Jo-Ann over the last two years.
