Jessie Marie Joy

Jessie Marie Joy, 96 Boardman- Jessie Marie Joy, 96, of 6845 Lockwood Blvd., Apt. #185, died Thursday evening at the Hospice House. Mrs. Joy was born September 25, 1910 in Columbus, PA, a daughter of Philip and Concetta Squillaci LaMachio. She was raised in Columbus, PA and moved to Corry, PA in 1927 and later to this area where she spent most of her adult life. She was an accountant for the G.M. Murphy 5 & 10 Store in Corry, Pennsylvania. In Youngstown, Mrs. Joy was a sales clerk in the menâa�a��s department at Sears Roebuck, where she retired from at the age of 62. Mrs. Joy was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, the Christian Womenâa�a��s Association, and the Sears Retiree Club. She was an avid reader and bridge player. Mrs. Joy also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Being that her husband was a professional golfer, she loved to follow the televised golf tournaments. She was a special lady in every sense of the word to family and friends, always being caring, loving, and a good listener. She always enjoyed sharing in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took great pride in being a special part of their lives. Her husband Anthony Joy, Sr., whom she married January 29, 1938, died September 15, 1980. She leaves her daughter, Jacqueline (Mel Klingler) Schweiger of Poland; a son, Anthony (Jacqueline) Joy, Jr. of Chautauqua, NY; a sister, Mary Flanigan of Corry, PA; four grandchildren, Kirsten (Scott) Fenton, Donald (Synthuon) Joy, Myer (Monica) Joy and Jessie (Chris) Joy; and five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jack, Grace, Tommaso and Niccolo. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Joy was preceded in death by three brothers, Myre LaMacchio, Anthony LaMacchio, and Albert LaMachio; and one granddaughter, Angela Joy. Private Funeral Services will be Monday, 11:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Calling Hours are from 10:00 to 10:45 AM for family and relatives at the funeral home.
