NEW MIDDLETOWN - Jerry Charles Keltz, 64, of New Middletown, fell asleep in death on Tuesday, December 23, 2014.
Jerry was born on June 14, 1950 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of James and Clara Aeppli Keltz.
Jerry attended Leonard Kirtz School, Bev Road MASCO, and Centre at Javit. He was always eager to go to school and workshop. He immensely enjoyed the friendship of his instructors and peers.
Jerry also loved attending the New Springfield Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses with his family, where he made many friends. His favorite scripture was Proverbs 18:10 which says: "The name of Jehovah is a strong tower. Into it the righteous one runs and receives protection." This Scripture had a calming effect on Jerry throughout his life. Jerry believed in the Bible's promise of the resurrection of the dead to life, and he looked forward to being on Paradise earth playing baseball with his father.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Clara H. Keltz; his brothers, John (Phyllis) of Ohio, Jake (Colleen) of Tennessee, Joel (Marjean) of Alabama, Jeff (Marie) of Connecticut, and Judson (Janice) of Arizona; his sisters, Joan (William) Newman of Ohio, Judith (Robert) Busek of Ohio, Joy (William) Oakes of Georgia, Janie Keltz of Ohio, and Jackie (Terry) Yocum of North Carolina; and numerous nephews and nieces, all of whom he loved.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, James Alex Keltz,and his brother, James William Keltz.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday from noon until 2:45 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Zion Cemetery in New Middletown.
