Poland- Jerome N. Nodae, 73, a lifelong resident of Poland, died Wednesday morning, June 26, 2019 at Continuing Healthcare at the Ridge.
Jerome, affectionately known as "Jerry" was born October 6, 1945 in Youngstown, a son of Louis and Erma Nodae.
He was a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and attended Youngstown State University. In 1966, Mr. Nodae opened his own custom cabinetry business, Jerry Nodae's Cabinets, which he operated until 2017. He was a truly gifted carpenter and was certified by the state to teach in vocational schools and published an instruction manual on woodworking that was once used by the state.
Mr. Nodae was a veteran of the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1962. Some of Jerry's favorite things included going to the theater, cruises, wine making, and he loved cooking gourmet meals.
Jerry is survived by Christopher (Melissa) Porter of Poland, whom he raised like his own son and had known for over 30 years; adopted son, Nicholas (Amanda) Nodae of Florida; his companion, Roberta Malyuk of Boardman; half-sister, Leah (David) Hettmannsperger of California; and step-brother, Jack (Glenda) Bursack of Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Blanche Bursack-Schwartz.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery, 248 S. Belle-Vista Ave. in Youngstown. A luncheon reception will follow at the Becker Family Center, 270 N. Main St., Poland.
