Jennie S. Thomas

Jennie S. Thomas, 91, formerly of Struthers, died early Tuesday morning, May 17, 2016 at Hospice of the Valley's Hospice House.

Jennie was born July 22, 1924 in Youngstown, a daughter of Frank and Martha Sheok, and she was raised in Campbell.

Jennie married Donald C. Thomas on October 23, 1943 and became a dedicated homemaker. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Struthers, where they made their home and raised their son.

Mrs. Thomas was a longtime member of Holy Apostles Parish at SS. Peter and Paul Church in Youngstown.

In her free time, Jennie enjoyed crocheting, working on jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Donald, preceded her in death on December 1, 1991. She is survived by her son, Alan (Linda) Thomas of Struthers; two grandchildren, Scott (Sara) Thomas of Portland, Oregon and Kori Smith of Struthers; three great-grandchildren, Sierra and Zoe Smith, and Karson Miller; her brother-in-law, Joseph Yug of Struthers; niece, Susan Schnoerr of Struthers; and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jennie was preceded in death by her sister, Martha Yug.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers. A funeral service will follow on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Joseph S. Rudjak officiating. Interment will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

Jennie's family would like to thank the staff of Assumption Village, Hospice House, and St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center for the excellent care they gave to her.
