Edinburg - Jennie Jo (DeVite) Smith, 56, died Wednesday morning, December 11, 2013 at her home.
Jennie Jo was born June 6, 1957 in New Castle, PA, a daughter of Edward W. DeVite Sr. and Shirley "Cookie" (Clark) DeVite.
She was a 1975 graduate of Mohawk High School. For over 30 years, Jennie Jo worked as a geriatric nurse's aid for the former Indian Creek Nursing Home and Jameson Care Center.
She was a member of St. James the Apostle Church in New Bedford.
Jennie Jo will always be remembered as a fun and loving mother who lived life to the fullest. She had the love of all animals, especially her dog, Fara.
In addition to her mother, Cookie of Edinburg, Jennie Jo is survived by her two daughters, Jennie Jo Smith and Alysia Maria Smith, both of Edinburg; brother, Edward (Pamela) DeVite II of Edinburg; two sisters, Lisa (Rick) Malutic of Edinburg and Heather Davis of Canfield; nephew, Edward DeVite III and nephew and godson, Ricky Malutic, both of Edinburg; and aunt and godmother, Arlene DeVite of Edinburg.
In addition to her father, Jennie Jo was preceded in death by her uncle and godfather, Anthony "Jr." DeVite.
Calling hours will be Fridday from 7-9 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 244 McGill Street in Lowellville.
A prayer service will be held Saturday at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. James the Apostle Church.
