Lowellville - Jennie L. Beight, 89, formerly of Poland, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at her residence. Mrs. Beight was born August 8, 1918 in New Castle, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Harvey and Mary McConnell Spiker. A 1938 graduate of New Castle High School, Mrs. Beight worked as a food server for Poland School District for 25 years, retiring in 1984. She was a member of Bethel Friends Church in Poland. She loved gardening, going out to eat with her friends, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her husband, Ralph L. Beight, whom she married November 21, 1942, died February 21, 1985. She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary (Bob) Watson of Lowellville; her son, Garry (Cheryl) Beight of Poland; four sisters, Freida Hudspath, Virginia Gee, Anna Hawk and Genevieve Lydic; two brothers, Robert "Cliff" Spiker and Donald (Mary) Spiker; 8 grandchildren, Jim (Deb) Watson, Ken Lupton, Tom (Gale) Watson, Bob (Andrea) Lupton, Chuck (Michele) Watson, Beth Scocchera, Kari Beight and Stacie Beight; 12 great-grandchildren, Susan, Brett, Bryan, Keith, Travis, Casey, Robert, Zach, Dylan, Trevor, Austin, and Courtney; four great-great grandchildren, Justin, Miranda, MacKenna and Madison; one sister-in-law, Lillian Drake of Struthers; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to her niece, Dolores Ipe. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Albert, Harvey, and Wesley Spiker. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bethel Friends Church, 2771 Spitler Road in Poland. Interment will follow at Green Haven Memorial Gardens in Canfield. Friends will be received Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers and Saturday from 9:30-9:45 a.m. at the church. Please visit
