New Waterford: Jeffrey A. Towns, 69, passed away Wednesday evening, July 31, 2019 at Hospice House in Poland with his loving family by his side.

Jeff was born January 1,1950 in Youngstown, the son of Ronald Earl and Esther Jean (Price) Towns, and was a lifelong area resident.

He graduated from Austintown High School in 1967 and attended YSU, studying civil engineering.

Jeff worked at Youngstown Sheet & Tube and the U.S. Steel Ohio Works before beginning his career at lnsul Company, Inc. He worked in the service department and as Product Development Manager, patenting several products that are still used in the steel industry today. His work took him on extensive travels throughout North and South America, Europe and Australia.

After retiring as General Sales Manager, Jeff then pursued a career in the custom car industry, a lifelong passion. He worked at Predator Performance as Director of Marketing for 7 years before retiring, greatly enjoying working with customers, developing projects, and showing vehicles at SEMA and other car shows throughout the country. Jeff was especially proud to have been part of the crew when a customer broke several land speed records.

Jeff served in the 910th Air Reserve Base in the Prime Base Emergency Engineer Force (BEEF) Group as a heavy equipment operator. He was a board member of both the American Society for Metals and the Ingot Metallurgy Forum, and was also a member of the Association of Iron & Steel Technology.

He was baptized as a Disciple of Christ at Central Christian Church in Youngstown, volunteering with youth groups, driving the church bus, being active in the Christian Men's Fellowship, teaching Sunday School and serving as Deacon, Elder and Congregation President.

Jeff is survived by his wife of 42 years, the former Deborah Ann (Carella), whom he married June 18, 1977; his sons Ryan Towns of Cincinnati and Andrew Towns of Louisville, Kentucky, and his daughter Emily (Dan) Pusateri of Camarillo,California; two grandchildren, Grady and Jane Pusateri, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, Jeffrey was preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Renaldy.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 5, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street in Boardman with Reverend Jeff Mincher officiating. Family and friends may call on Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Davis-Becker Funeral Home and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions to the ALS, Association Northern Ohio Chapter, 6155 Rockside Rd, Suite 403 Independence, Ohio 44131 or to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, Ohio 44512 in memory of Jeffrey.
