NEW MIDDLETOWN - Jeffrey T. Alexander, 57, of 9555 Struthers Road, died Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown. Mr. Alexander was born June 20, 1950 in Youngstown, a son of Thomas E. and Marion E. Engleman Alexander. He was a life long area resident. He was a 1969 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Following graduation, Mr. Alexander enlisted in the United States Navy, serving for four years, including a tour in Vietnam. Mr. Alexander then continued his military career with the Army National Guard, in the 838th Military Police Company, including serving our country during Operation Desert Storm. Mr. Alexander has received numerous medals and commendations throughout the years, including proudly receiving the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with one bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge, and was named the National Guards soldier of the year, 1983. He worked for General Extrusions, Inc, as a laborer, where he was Vice-President of the United Steel Workers Union, Local 5154. He loved classic cars and motorcycles, and was an avid University of Notre Dame and Cleveland Browns fan. Go Irish! Besides his mother, Marion, he leaves his wife of 33 years, the former Colly Beck, whom he married May 3, 1975. One daughter, Jennifer L. (Michael J.) Maggs of Mtn Home AFB, ID, One son, Matthew J. Alexander of Washington, DC, two sisters, Rebecca J. (David F.) Kountz of Youngstown, Laura L. Alexander of Westfield Center, one brother, Timothy E. Alexander of Youngstown, his father-in-law and mother-in-law LaMonte E. and Marlene J. Beck of New Smyrna Beach FL, three brother in laws, Lary E. (Nancy) Beck, of Campbell, Norbert A. Beck of Hubbard, and Randy L. (Julie) Beck of Titusville FL and one sister-in-law, Marla J. (Donald, Sr.,) Kollar of Poland and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Thomas E. Alexander, paternal grandparents, Earl and Hazel Alexander, and maternal grandparents, Howard and Tillie Engleman, and his beloved dog, Chocolate. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, June 3, 2008 from 5-8 pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, and Wednesday from 10:00-10:45 am. Services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Pastor Gary Marcy officiating.
