With a passion for music, Jay was a fretless bass guitarist and trombone player for the Olympus Mons Band, playing in various clubs in the Youngstown area. One of his favorite past times was singing karaoke to Frank Sinatra songs.
He also enjoyed fishing, watching soccer and hockey, the Colorado Avalanche in particular, playing video games, anything Star Wars, and a love for animals, rescuing many of them. Jay was also very proud of his Welsh heritage, having tattoos of the words "patience" and "courage", and displaying the Welsh flag at his apartment. He was also learning the language.
