Youngstown - Janey Wilson, 66, passed away on December 29, 2024 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman.
She was born May 2, 1958 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Lee and Ina (Hill) Blackiston. She graduated from Poland High School, where she excelled on their swim team. She then continued her education by earning an Associate's Degree from Youngstown State University.
Janey was a devoted stay-at-home mom and adoring grandmother who brought light and laughter to those around her with her sharp wit, humor, and intelligence. Known for her unyielding determination, she approached life with strength and purpose, creating a loving home filled with warmth and joy.
An exceptional cook, her shepherd’s pie and lasagna were legendary family favorites, and her kitchen was often the heart of celebrations. She had a passion for learning and could often be found with a book in hand, exploring new ideas or diving into her love of art, particularly inspired by Van Gogh’s masterpieces. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed binge-watching captivating shows like Law & Order: SVU.
Above all, she treasured her role as a grandmother, taking every opportunity to spoil her grandkids and create long-lasting memories.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Lee (Megan) Wilson and Tim Wilson, both of Youngstown, and Scott (Melissa) Wilson of Lancaster, NY; her grandchildren, Myka, Nathan, Parker, and Cameron; her sisters, Cynthia Rohrbaugh of Elyria and Tomi (Eddie) Beach of Boardman; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Wilson.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a brief prayer being said prior to the conclusion. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Calvary Cemetery.
