NORTH LIMA Janet Lee Whitfield, 61, passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2013.
She was born Jan. 19, 1952, to Edward J. and Gloria (Cover) Rutushin.
She was a successful realtor working first with her mother at Rutushin Realty. For the past 30 years, she had worked for Burgan Real Estate, where she was a Distinguished Agent, member of the Superior Agents Group, Presidents Sales Club of the Ohio Association of Realtors, Mahoning County Farm Bureau for many years. Her favorite charity was the Disabled American Veterans.
Janet loved to be out of doors and enjoyed the nature all around her. She liked gardening and watching her flowers, vegetables and fruit flourish. She had a passion for horses and loved to trail ride at Beaver Creek.
She leaves behind her loving husband, Rodney ³Rocky² Whitfield, whom she married in September of 1993; four stepsons, Rodney of East Palestine, Richard (Emily) of Canfield, Cody of New Springfield and Stephen of Columbiana; a sister, Diana (Robert) King of North Lima; a brother, Edward
(Kathy) Rutushin of Berlin Center; a niece, Tracy Haney of North Lima, whom she helped raise and treated her like her own; a granddaughter, Hannah Michalak of North Lima; and nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman.
