New Middletown - Janet J. Pusser, 89, died Saturday morning, April 20, 2013 at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.
Mrs. Pusser was born August 6, 1923 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Harold and Willavene Clever Shollenberger.
She was a 1941 graduate of Struthers High School and attended Youngstown College. Mrs. Pusser worked as a bookkeeper first for U.S. Steel, then Kessler Insurance Agency, and retired from J.C. Penney in 1982.
She was a member of Poland United Methodist Church and its Martha Lupse Group, and the Ruth Shrine No. 64, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards and was a member of various bridge clubs over the years.
Her husband, Henry F. Pusser, whom she married January 18, 1946, died February 10, 2009. Mrs. Pusser is survived by her daughter, Sue (Jorge) Lopez of New Middletown; grandson, Matthew Burns of New Middletown; two nephews, James (Karen) Lewis of Poland and Dr. Jack (Margaret) Lewis of Petersburg; and niece, Joan Lewis of Poland.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Lewis.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lake Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Pusser's family would like to express their appreciation and thank her caregivers, Shawna and Jackie, for the wonderful care they gave her, and also to Dr. Richard Wise for his many years of care for her and her family.
