Struthers - Janet Carol Ciccone, 74, of Struthers, passed peacefully Sunday evening, October 9, 2011 at her home surrounded by family and friends.
Mrs. Ciccone was born July 25, 1937 in Kinston, NC, a daughter of Paul and Ada Morgan Thigpen, and moved to this area in 1959.
She was a graduate of North Kinston High School and was a homemaker.
A member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers, Mrs. Ciccone was a member of its Altar and Rosary Society and a dedicated volunteer for many of the church activities, including working its bingo each week. She was also a member of the First Friday Club. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family and friends.
Her husband, Daniel Ciccone, whom she married August 25, 1959, died July 1, 2009. She leaves five sons, Daniel (Kathryn) Ciccone of Tampa, FL, David (Cindy) Ciccone of Struthers, Vince Ciccone of Struthers, Dean (Nanci) Ciccone of Austintown, and Donald (Megan) Ciccone of Poland; ten grandchildren, Jeff, Brianne, Mariah, Dalton, Sarah, Matthew, Alannah, Michael, Nicholas, and Natalie; and a host of extended family, friends, and church members.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Thigpen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 6 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church with Fr. Bernard Bonnot officiating.
Family and friends will be received Thursday from 4 p.m. until 5:45 p.m. at the church. Interment will be at our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Lowellville.
The family would like to express their appreciation and thank her daughter-in-law and caregiver, Megan, for her dedication and commitment throughout her illness. They would also like to thank Deacon John Terranova and his wife, Shirley, for their friendship and support, along with all her other wonderful family and friends who supported her throughout her illness.
