James William âa�A"Billâa�A� Wolfgang, 80 Poland- James William Wolfgang, 80, of 6125 Acatello Place died early Saturday morning at his daughterâa�a��s residence in Hubbard. Mr. Wolfgang was born February 9, 1923 in Summerville, Pennsylvania, a son of Harry and Lavina Walters Wolfgang. He moved to Hubbard as a young boy and then later to Poland where he lived for 56 years. A graduate of Hubbard High School he attended Youngstown State University. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He saw service in the European theater and the African Campaign. He was in Italy in a P.O.W. hospital the last several months of the war. He was employed at the Youngstown Sheet and Tube retiring in 1977 as Industrial Enginner. He enjoyed community services for 20 years as a volunteer fireman in Poland, retiring at the rank of Captain. He held memberships in the Poland Firemenâa�a��s Association, Ohio State Volunteer Firemenâa�a��s Association, Tri-County Firemenâa�a��s Association and Mahoning Valley Fire Officerâa�a��s Association. Very active in Masonic services, he was a member of the Sulgrave Lodge #696 F&AM, Ashlar Chapter #213, R.A.M. where he was Past High Priest in 1977, 1991, 1993 and belonging to the Order of High Priesthood. He was a member of Buechner Council #107 R.S.M., past Commander of St. Johnâa�a��s #20 Knights Templar, Deputy Division Commander of the Grand Commandery of the State of Ohio, former Patron of Lamplight Chapter #582 O.E.S. and a member of Columbiana Chapter #428, Royal Order of Scotland, Knight Masons of Ireland, Al Koran Shrine of Cleveland and Honorary Past Grand Commander of 10 Eastern States. He was a member of the 45âa�a��ers, Knight Crusaders of the Cross, Knight Precepter, Feather Dusters and Knight Commander of the Temple. Mr. Wolfgang was a life member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War, a member of the Steel Valley Chapter #13 Ex- P.O.W. and a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Poland Presbyterian Church where he served as elder. Besides his wife the former Virginia Blackman whom married November 8,1957, he leaves two daughters, Darlyne (George) Hoffman of Poland and Janine (Robert) Jones of Hubbard; one sister, Gladys Popwich of Illinois; one sister-in-law, Bev Borosky of New Middletown; 11 grandchildren, Shalyne (Butch) Hoffman Fox, George Hoffman III, Kristen (Bryan) Hoffman Gillen, James, Scott and Justin Hoffman, Robert Jr., Richard, David and Kelly Jones and Kathy (Robert) Jones Tomko Jr.; twelve great-grandchildren, Amber Byers, Danielle, George âa�A"Jakeâa�A� IV, Tara and Nicholas Hoffman, Skylar and Crystal Gillen, Taylor, Isaiah and Bobbi Janine Jones, Madison Tomko and Robert Daniel Tomko, III and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, two brothers, Richard and Norris Wolfgang and one sister, Sarah Hines preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 1:30 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 PM and Tuesday, one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. A Masonic service will be conducted at 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home and the Knight Templar service will follow.
