Brownlee Woods-James Paul White, Jr., 81, died on January 16, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on June 25, 1936, a son of James Paul White, Sr. and Mathilda Breinz. Jim was a lifelong resident of Youngstown until the last few weeks of his life when he lived with his daughter and her family in upstate New York.
Jim attended East High School and worked as a pipe fitter with the Steamfitters and Pipefitters Union, Local 47. Jim married Joan "Mickey" Pawlen on Valentine’s Day 1957. They were married for nearly 50 years until Joan’s death in 2007.
They had three children: Dr. James Paul (Heather) White of Ross, Ohio, Cynthia White (Paul) Simonet of Dryden, New York, and Richard (Beth) White of Canfield, Ohio. Jim has seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who loved him dearly: Roxana Simonet, Katherine Simonet, Alex (Amber) White, Thea Simonet, Rachel White, Christian Simonet, Andrew White, Bronx Meyer, and Harlow White.
Aside from his parents and wife, Jim was predeceased by his sister, Mary Elizabeth White.
Jim was a kind and gracious man. He loved reading about history, enjoyed old cars, and was passionate about organic gardening. Jim was never at a loss for words, and his great sense of humor endeared him to those fortunate enough to call him friend.
