James L. Wallace BOARDMAN âa�" James L. Wallace, 86, of Boardman, died Friday evening at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Boardman Campus. Mr. Wallace was born March 3, 1922 in Bessemer a son of Edith Lozier Wallace. He was a life long resident of the Youngstown area. He graduated from the Rayen School in 1940. Following graduation, he joined the US Navy, where he served in WWII and the Korean conflict. He received the Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, the European-African & Middle Eastern Medal, the American Theatre and the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Wallace was employed for 40 years with Ohio Edison, retiring in 1987 as a General Foreman in the Substation Maintenance Division. He was very involved with the Boardman Little League Association, was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church, and loved beachcombing. His wife, the former Marian L. Breetz, whom he married February 28, 1947, died July 20, 2001. He leaves three sons, Robert (Kay) Wallace of Pickerington, Jon (Patricia) Wallace of Boardman and James (Elise) Wallace of Clinton; and seven grandchildren, Amy, Bobby, Beth, Christopher, Ryan, Jon and Jay Wallace. He was preceded in death by his mother. Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, and Wednesday from 9:30 âa�" 10:15 a.m. prior to the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
