James Rex Torbron
March 13, 1951 — April 7, 2024
James Rex Torbron, age 73, passed away unexpectedly at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital's Emergency Room, on April 7, 2024.
Known to his friends and family as Rex, he was born March 13, 1951, in Youngstown, Ohio, to James B. and Jessie (Bean) Torbron. He graduated from Poland Seminary High School in 1969 and studied electronics at I.T.T. Technical School. For some thirty years, he managed various aspects of the business at Doc’s Radio. He enjoyed and was proficient at auto mechanics, outdoor sports, and cooking.
Rex was a great friend to many people. He was known for his easy congeniality, good humor, and discriminating palette. He will be greatly missed among his special circle of close friends, with whom he met weekly for golf, cards, and dinner, and by his three sisters and their families, Kathleen Sherhag of Minneapolis, MN, Patricia Geoghegan of Amesbury, MA, and Robin Warde of Smithfield, RI.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife, Helen.
Friends are invited to join his family and gather to remember Rex at the Pour House (Poland), 3131 Center Road, Poland, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, 2024.
Memorial gifts can be directed to Angels for Animals, Rex’s favorite charity, in memory of his dog MacBean.
