Struthers - James A. Sabol, 82, of Struthers, died Tuesday afternoon, March 10, 2015, surrounded by his family at Hospice of the Valley, Hospice House.
Jim was born September 29, 1932 in Youngstown, a son of Michael and Veronika Tkach Sabol.
A life-long resident of Struthers, Jim graduated from Struthers High School, Class of 1950.
A United States Army Veteran, Jim served in Korea and Japan following the Korean Conflict.
Jim was a repairman for Ohio Bell for over 37 years retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Elmton Golf League where he was proud to be the first to have a Hole-in-One. He was also a member of the former Ohio Bell Bowling League. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, listening and dancing to Polka music and playing the lottery. Jim's greatest joy was spending time with his family and attending his children and more recently his grandchildren's activities.
He leaves his wife, of over 55 years, the former Esther Grilli, whom he married April 18, 1959; one daughter, Leanne (Al ) Franceschelli of Poland; two sons, Brian (Marcia) Sabol of Poland and David (Kathleen) Sabol of Austintown; three sisters, Irene Boris of Boardman, Mary Ann (Ed) Strauss also of Boardman, and Delores (Bill) Ulicny of Struthers; one brother, George (Pat) Sabol of Struthers; seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Nicholas, and Michael Franceschelli, Greg (Heather), Anna, Carolyn, and Sarah Sabol; two sisters-in-law, Joann Grilli of New York, NY and MaryAnne (Ed) Shebert of Marco Island, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by four brothers, Mike, John, Joe, and infant Daniel Sabol; one sister Margaret Locicero; and father and mother-in-law, Bill and Anna Grilli.
Friends will be received Friday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers where a Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 PM.
