James W. Powell

Youngstown - James W. Powell, 57, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 5, 2019 at his home.

James, affectionately known by most as "Jimmy" was born October 10, 1961 in Youngstown, a son of Donald and Elaine (Pompoco) Powell.

A lifelong area resident, Jimmy was a 1980 graduate of Boardman High School. He worked most of his career in health care and was a certified nurses aide. For the last 24 years, he worked for Ohio's Choice Home Health, most recently as their business office manager. Jimmy was proud to have been recognized as Employee of the Year in recent years.

In his free time, Jimmy enjoyed going to auctions, camping with friends, and spending time with his family, especially looking forward to their annual family trip to Geneva-on-the-Lake. He had a love for animals and enjoyed the companionship from his dogs, Killer and Teddy, and his cat Prince.

In addition to his parents, Donald and Elaine of Boardman, Jimmy is survived by his three siblings, Cindy (Pat) Reedy of Austintown, Donny (Tammie) Powell of Boardman, and Kate (Jim) Rosati of Berlin Center; nieces and nephews, Donny (Jen) Powell Jr., Diana (Shawn) Machel, Elaine (Jorge) Reedy, Patrick (Jess) Reedy, Cory (Emily) Powell, Joe (Sammie) Reedy, Jenna Powell, John (Lacey) Rosati, and Danny Rosati; great nieces and nephews, Aiden, Adalyn, Carter, Cali, and Georgiana; and many loving cousins.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mary Powell and Frank and Helen Powell; his maternal grandparents, James and Katherine Pompoco; and his aunt and uncle, Peggy and Butch Ault.

A memorial service celebrating Jimmy's life will be held on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, where friends may call from 4-5:45 p.m., prior to the service.
