James L. Pitzulo, 81 Lowellville- James L. Pitzulo, 81, of 130 East Jackson Street, died Sunday afternoon at his daughterâa�a��s home in St. Petersburg, Florida. Mr. Pitzulo was born September 1, 1922, in Lowellville, a son of Joe and Mary Aurillo Pitzulo. He was a life-long resident of Lowellville and after retirement spent his winters in St. Petersburg, Florida. In October of 1940 he enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corps in Colorado and served until his enlistment in the United States Army during World War II. He served from 1943 until 1945 and was the recipient of three bronze stars, the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantry Badge. He served in the European, African, Asian, and Middle Eastern Theater and fought in three Campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge. For 6 days he was lost in action. For over 39 years, Mr. Pitzulo was a laborer for the Sharon Steel Company retiring in 1974. Mr. Pitzulo was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville and the Transfiguration in St. Petersburg, Florida. In Lowellville he was a member of the Moose Club, the American Legion Post #247 and Mount Carmel Society. He was a former volunteer for the Lowellville Fire Department. Besides his wife the former Mary Amendol whom he married August 28, 1948 he leaves two daughters, Sandra Albanese of St. Petersburg, Florida and Nancy (Pat Klingensmith) Valensi of Canfield; one son, Anthony (Marilyn) Pitzulo of Indianapolis, Indiana; one brother, John Pitzulo of Lowellville; a step-sister, Tina (Charles) Segretario of Struthers; two step-brothers, Dominic Romeo of Poland and Bruce (Theresa) Romeo of Akron; ten grandchildren, James Pitzulo, Carol Zieroff, Daniel Pitzulo, William Repko, Stacey Pitts, Renee Pitzulo, Ryan Repko, Leslie, Amanda and Laramie Brewer; five great-grandchildren, Griffin Madden, James, Gabriel and Gracia Pitzulo and Kirsten Pitts. Besides his parents, his stepfather, James Romeo, one sister, Carmel Alfano and three brothers, Anthony, Carmen and Frank Pitzulo preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville and 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
