Youngstown - James Parsons, 69, died April 2, 2015 with his family by his side.
Mr. Parsons was born October 23, 1945 in New Bedford, PA, a son of James and Bessie Airgood Parsons.
James was a 1964 graduate of Wilmington Area High School. He attended Youngstown State University as well as various police academies.
He worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube until its closing. James was a Police Officer at Youngstown State University for 25 years. He worked as an officer at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown and retired as a Correctional Officer at Ohio State Penitentiary.
James was a veteran of the United States Air Force, where he was stationed in Turkey.
He was a member Our Lady of Sorrows Parish at St. Matthias Church. He also was a member of 7th Ward Citizens Coalition and Powerstown Blockwatch.
James was a huge Elvis Presley fan and was an avid gardener. He was very family oriented and loved spending time with them.
He is survived by his wife, the former Lucinda Cramer, whom he married Oct. 14, 1972; two daughters, Amanda Parsons and Jaime Morgan both of Youngstown; one son, Jon (Deanna) Parsons of Poland; one grandchild, DJ Morgan; three sisters, Mary Misik of Sharon, Susan Parsons of Warren, and Loretta Parsons of Poland; two brothers, David (Regina) Parsons of Campbell and Joseph Parsons of New Bedford, PA.
Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by one sister, Betsy Fields; and a brother, Thomas Parsons.
Services will be held at 12:00, Noon, Tuesday at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman.
Friends and family will be received Monday from 4-7PM and Tuesday from 11-11:45AM at the funeral home.
