James Eugene Moore

Lowellville - Friends may call on Friday (TODAY) from 3-7pm in the Cunningham Becker Funeral Home, 244 McGill St. Lowellville, OH 44436 for James Eugene Moore, who died on Tuesday, December 9, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at the Mahoning Presbyterian Church, 4401 Skyhill Rd. Pulaski, Pa 16143, on Saturday, December 13 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Poland Township Cemetery in Lowellville.
Jay was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 18, 1928, son of the late Clyde Lewis and Maude Traylor Moore.
He was a graduate of Lowellville High School, class of 1946, and a graduate of The Ohio State University, class of 1950 where he was a member of the rifle team.
He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army from 1951-1953.
Jay married Helen Scribner on November 21, 1953. Following her death in 1966, he married Dorcas Anderson in 1969, who survives him.
He retired from General Electric in 1992, where he was employed as a polymer chemist and was named or co-named as the inventor on seven patents.
Jay was a very active member of Mahoning Presbyterian Church, where he also served as an Elder and Trustee. He enjoyed going on trips and working with Habitat for Humanity. He had a love for hunting, woodworking, gardening, farming and his apple orchard, but nothing meant more to Jay than the time he spent with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Chris Anderson.
Survivors include his wife, Dorcas; his sister, Elizabeth Moore; children, Mary (Andy) Miner, Clyde (Chris) Moore, Carol (Keith) McDivitt, Cindy Walter and John (Janice) Moore; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Mahoning Presbyterian Church, Doctors without Borders, Mercy Ships or Habitat for Humanity .
