James J. Metzger, 66 Poland- James J. Metzger, 66, of 1817 Canavan Drive died Tuesday evening at his residence. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania February 23, 1938, a son of Joseph and Marjorie Humble Metzger. Mr. Metzger was a 1955 graduate of Newtown High School and attended N.Y.U. in 1958. He was a Claims Adjuster at LTV Maverick, retiring in 2003. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. Mr. Metzger was Co-Founder of Poland Soccer. He was a Poland and Salem Soccer Coach. He was a member of the American Red Cross and the Poland United Methodist Church, where he was on the church council, trustees; and was a member of the Menâa�a��s Prayer Group. He enjoyed woodworking and jewelry making. He loved being with his family, his church, and friends. He leaves his loving wife, Ruth, whom he married July 11, 1964; one daughter, Sharon (Michael) Waterbeck of Salem; one son, David (Jean) Metzger of Poland; one brother, Barry Metzger of Jacksonville, FL; one sister, Rosemary Pisarchik of Yonkers, NY; and 6 grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Anthony Metzger; and one sister, Claire Bauer. Funeral services will be Friday 11AM at the Poland United Methodist Church.
