New Middletown - James L Metcalf, 90, of New Middletown, died Tuesday evening at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center.
Mr. Metcalf was born October 9, 1921 in Youngstown, a son of James and Jeanne Kinsel Metcalf.
He was a graduate of South High School and received his Associates degree in Accounting from Youngstown College. Mr. Metcalf was a salesman for Ross Radio, Radio & TV Parts, and Ronci Electronics. From 1969 until 1997 he was manager of the former Mikes Party Shop in Struthers.
A United States Army Veteran, Mr. Metcalf served with the 442nd 100th Battalion in World War II from 1942 until 1946.
His wife, the former Margaret Hudoba, whom he married May 20, 1944, died January 2, 1980. He leaves two sons, Mike (Sharon) Metcalf of North Lima and James (Jean) Metcalf of FL; one daughter, Margaret (Jon) Brown of Dowers Grove, IL; one brother, Richard (Barbara) Metcalf of Dayton; six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, Mr. Metcalf was preceded in death by one brother, William Metcalf; and two sisters, Beverly Cronin, and Ruth O'Hara.
There are no calling hours or services. Interment will take place at Lake Park Cemetery.
