James Alan Laska, 57, of Poland, died Tuesday afternoon at St. Elizabeth in Boardman.
James was born April 3, 1956 in Youngstown, a son of Charles A. and Helen F. Tocicki Laska.
A 1974 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School, James received his Bachelors in Art History and Education and a Minor in Photography from Youngstown State University.
For 12 years he was a curator for the Butler Institute of American Art. Prior to the Butler, James worked in carpentry and also for the former Stambaugh Thompson in Boardman.
James was a member of the NRA and the Lowellville Rod and Gun Club. He loved the ocean and the Canfield Fair. He was an amazing artist, working with all mediums, and many of his artwork was shown at the Butler. James true being was to spend every day with his children, James and Bonnie
He leaves his children, James and Bonnie Laska of Poland; two brothers, Jerry (Joyce) Laska of Columbiana and Chuck (Mary) Laska of Niles; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, James was preceded in death by grandparents, Joseph and Francis Tocicki and Gustav and Mary Laska.
Funeral services will be Sunday, 5:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland with Pastor Duane Bull officiating. Interment will follow Monday, 10:00 AM at the Calvary Cemetery.
