POLAND - James J. "Lucky" Kasper, 71 of Morningside Drive, died Friday afternoon at his residence.

Mr. Kasper was born July 19, 1938 in Youngstown, a son of Michael and Mary Lesko Kasper, and was a life long area resident. He was a 1956 graduate of Struthers High School, and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Kasper was a Purchasing Agent for Wean United and General Furniture for many years. He also drove bus for the Mahoning County Career and Technical Center, for their field trips and drove limousine for Southern Park Limo.

Mr. Kasper was a member of the Infant Jesus of Prague Church and the Lyon's Club. He was a Steelers fan; an avid car enthusiast and loved to travel, especially to Ocean City, Maryland and Bar Harbor, Maine with his family. His motto was, "It's good we could still laugh."

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Patricia A. Malys, whom he married June 22, 1963; one daughter Jennifer (Thomas) Sumner of Baltimore, MD., one son, Michael (Kristine) Kasper of Cleveland, his mother-in-law, Ann Malys of Campbell; two sisters, Irene Pavlich of Struthers, and Mariann (Bob) McCluskey of Tuscon, AZ., numerous nieces and nephews, and two childhood friends, Mary Ellen & Dick Cebak, who introduced James and Patricia to each other over 50 years ago.

Family and friends will be received Monday from 4-7 pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where the Parastas service will be said at 7:00 pm. The Panachida service will be said Tuesday at 9:15 am at the funeral home. Funeral Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 am., at the Infant Jesus of Prague Byzantine Catholic Church with Rev. Christopher Burke, officiating.

Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Lowellville.
