James Howard Moore

Poland - James Howard Moore, 87, of Poland, died Wednesday afternoon, March 30, 2016.

James, affectionately known as Jim, was born March 31, 1928 in Coitsville Township, on his family farm, the son of Howard Lawrence and Edna Alice Lindsay Moore.

He was raised in Coitsville and was a graduate of North High School, Class of 1946 and received his B.S. in B.A. in Accounting from Youngstown College in 1950. For 9 years, Jim served in the U.S. Naval Reserves. In 1955, Jim was employed as an accountant at Ajax Magnethermic of Warren. He retired as treasurer in 1990 after 35 years of service.

A 50 year member of the Poland Presbyterian Church, Jim was an usher and ordained elder. He was past president of the National Association of Accountants and the Youngstown Area Credit Management. Jim was a 25 year member of the Warren Kiwanis Club.

Having been raised on the family farm, Jim had a passion for his large garden which included a wide variety of vegetables, including his specialty sweet corn. An alumni of Youngstown State University, Jim was dedicated to following Y.S.U. athletics. He loved his family and was a kid at heart and fully enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jim leaves his wife of 65 years, the former Barbara A. Brownlee, whom he married December 2, 1950; two sons, David J. (Laurie) Moore of Canfield and Raymond L. (Barbara) Moore of Poland; two grandsons, Matthew D. Moore of Lisbon and Brian J. Moore of Athens; two granddaughters, Gabrielle E. (Chris) Massey of Boardman and Ashley N. (Jacob) Zimmerman of Poland; two great-granddaughters, Kennedy E. Massey and Ruthanne M. Zimmerman; two great-grandsons, Landon R. Massey and Abel J. Zimmerman; one sister, Martha (Ed) Ratell of Poland; and one sister-in-law, Peggy Moore also of Poland.

Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by twin granddaughters, Emily Ann and Amanda Leigh Moore; and two brothers, Richard and Robert Moore.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, 11:30 AM at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman with Dr. Brent D. Eelman officiating. Interment will be at the Poland Riverside Cemetery.

Friends will be received Saturday from 9:30 AM to 11:15 AM at the funeral home.
