Struthers - James D. Holby, 74, of Struthers, died Friday, April 25, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Holby was born September 21, 1933 in Campbell, Ohio, a son of John and Helen Alton Holby. He was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1953 graduate of Struthers High School. Mr. Holby worked as a medical technician for Youngstown Orthopedics in Boardman, retiring in 1996 after 25 years. He was a United States Army veteran, and in 1956 he completed the Medical Specialist Course at the Army Medical Service School and US Army Hospital in Fort Jackson, SC. Mr. Holby leaves his sister, Irene Cukec of Brandon, Mississippi; and his companion of 24 years, Timothy Wedge, with whom he made his home. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Verbanovic and Sylvia Soich; and three brothers, Jack, Bill, and Jake Holby. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers. Interment will follow in Tod Homestead Cemetery, Youngstown. Friends will be received Monday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
