Boardman - James Lee Gruhlkey, 24 of Boardman, died Thursday, March 2, 2011.
Jimmy was born July 14, 1986 in Iraklion, Crete Greece, son of Karl Gruhlkey and Pamela Fantone Rocco.
He was a 2004 graduate of Poland Seminary and attended Youngstown State University, where he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, where he had served as the former Vice President.
He loved to play tennis, golf, and enjoyed spending time with his daughter at the Boardman Park. He had received his first hole in one in 2006, at Tanglewood Golf Course. Jimmy loved history, collecting old coins and money. He was also a camp counselor at Camp Fitch. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, Ohio State, the Texas Longhorns and the Cleveland Indians. Jimmy enjoyed watching the History Channel, Seinfeld and old Western movies. He loved Rock and Roll, Punk Rock and Country. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his father, Karl Gruhlkey of Austin TX, his mother, Pamela (Jesse Temple) Fantone Rocco of Columbus, daughter Genaviene Mayhew; his fiancée, Krystina Boano of Boardman; step-son Wilson Boano, brother Karl E. Gruhlkey II of Austin, TX; step-sister Jackie Lysowski of Boardman; his grandmothers, Mary Helen Wilson of Boardman, Bobbie Gruhlkey of Austin, TX, and Marlene Brobst Fantone of Newton Falls; his step-mother Tammy Reed of Hubbard, and ten cousins; DJ, Tommy, Andy, Angie, Ken, Noah, Hillary, John, Candice and Aaron.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Albert Lee Gruhlkey, James J Fantone and uncle, Richard Wilson.
Family and friends will be received Sunday from 5-8 pm at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers where a prayer service will be held Monday at 12:15 pm. Funeral Mass will be Monday at 1:00 pm at St. Charles Church in Boardman, with Rev. Maciej Mankowski officiating. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery
