Services will be held Friday, 11:00 am at Davis-Becker Funeral Home for James Flick, 58 of Boardman. He passed away unexpectedly Monday morning at his home.
Mr. Flick was born Dec. 16, 1956 in Youngstown, a son of James Flick and Nancy M. Bodine Flick. He graduated from Boardman High School in 1975 and from Bowling Green University in 1979 with a degree in journalism. He received his master's degree from Youngstown State University and was working towards his doctorate. Jim was a professor at YSU and Eastern Gateway where he taught English and journalism . He also worked for the Niles Daily Times, he had served on the Niles School Board and coached soccer for Niles.
Surviving him is his mother Nancy Flick with whom he made his home, a son Michael Flick of Pittsburgh, step sons Alex "Bo" Gutierrez of Cincinnati and Nick Gutierrez of Niles. A brother Dale (Vicky) Flick of Austintown, a sister Kathy (Gary) Brousseau of Chardon and brother Kevin Flick . Nieces Lindsey Ladensack and Hollie (James) Nevin and nephews Ron (Ashley) Flick and Jeremy Flick. Also aunts uncles and cousins.
Friends may call Thursday from 4pm-7pm and Friday from 10am-10:45am both at the funeral home.
