Youngstown - James I. Flanery, 75, of Youngstown, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at his home. Jim was born July 11, 1932 in Ligon, Kentucky, a son of Isaac and Viola Grigsby Flanery. Jim was an Army Veteran serving in the armed forces during the Korean War. He first worked as an electrician and later as a supervisor for Republic/LTV Steel, retiring in 1985. Jim was a member of the American Legion and was a devout Christian by faith. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and a dear friend to all who knew him. Jim was always available to anyone who needed a helping hand and charmed everyone he ever met with his warm heart. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and loved him. Jim leaves his wife, Karen, whom he married September 4, 1986; four daughters, Joan of Cairo, GA, Karen of Cortland, Lisa and husband, Jessee Holmes of China Grove, NC, and Hope and husband, Darren Kurdyla of Youngstown; three sons, Michael and wife, Patricia Flanery of Las Vegas, NV, Keith Flanery of Youngstown, and Eric and wife, Tina Williamson of Haines City, FL; a brother, Lester Flanery of Bowling Fork, KY; fifteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; fifteen nieces and nephews; and one great nephew. Besides his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Flanery and two brothers, Bobby and Raymond Flanery. Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:00 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers. Family and friends will be received Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
