Poland- James Edward Fain, 68, of Poland, died August 19, 2009 at the Hospice House.
Mr. Fain was born August 21, 1940 in Crooksville, a son of William Howard and Susie Ann Ponchak Fain. He moved to Yulee, Florida in 1980 and returned to Poland in 2003.
He was a 1959 graduate of Poland Seminary High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy serving from Jan. of 1959 until March of 1963 aboard the USS Van Voorhis along side his older brother, William. His Navy training included firefighting school.
Upon honorable discharge from the Navy, Mr. Fain worked as a machinist for Commercial Shearing. He later worked as a long haul truck driver and most recently as a security guard while he was living in Florida.
While in the Navy, he played in a band called The Gauchos. His hobbies included playing the guitar, watching wildlife, and he was a Cleveland Indians fan.
He leaves his mother, Susie Ann Fain of Poland; two children, Yvonne and Justin; five sisters, Sarah Coates of Bonita Springs, Flor., Dolores (Charles) Zins of Poland, Darlene Enke of Struthers, Diane (Lee) Ingold of Struthers, and Connie Mount of Poland; two brothers, Larry (Linda) Fain of North Lima and Roger (Mary Jane) Fain of Port Orange, Flor.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Henry Fain.
Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland Chapel, where family and friends will be received one hour prior to the service.
The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mr. Fain's name to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Rd., Poland, Ohio, 44514.
