Lowellville - James D. Lucido, 89, died Tuesday evening, June 20, 2016 at Humility House surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Lucido was born April 12, 1927 in Lowellville, a son of Angelo and Nerina Martino Lucido.
A life long resident of Lowellville, James graduated from Lowellville High School and in May of 1945 enlisted in the United States Navy. He served in the Philippines and received the American Area Campaign Medal, Victory Medal, and Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged in August of 1946 and returned to Lowellville. James attended Youngstown College and worked along side his brother, Angelo, and his brother-in-law, Rich Mularchik, in their aluminum siding business. He later was employed as a mail carrier for United States Postal Service, Lowellville Branch. He retired from the postal service in 1989 after 27 years of service.
James was a life long member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Lowellville and was one of the many members who helped build the present church. He was an usher and active in many church groups over the years. He was very active in the Lowellville Booster Club while his children were in school. He enjoyed golfing and his favorite pastime was gardening, as he had quite the green thumb. He also enjoyed carpentry where he was a perfectionist.
His wife, the former Eleanor Lagnese, whom he married August 4, 1951 died August 29, 2008; he leaves one daughter, Cindy (Ron) Perry of Lowellville; two sons, David (Tina) Lucido of Austintown and Jim (Carrie) Lucido of Alliance; seven grandchildren, Ronda (Keith) LaMont of Poland, Danielle (Thomas) Kridler of Austintown, Deanna Lucido of Austintown, Amanda Lucido of Alliance, Brittany (Massimo) Terzigni of Pittsburgh, Jamie Lucido of Alliance, and Dana Lucido of Austintown; four great-grandchildren, Isabella and K.J. LaMont, Eva and Maria Terzigni, and one great-granddaughter to arrive, Nerina Kridler; one brother, Angelo (Sandy) Lucido of Gilroy, CA; one sister, Rose Turner of Fort Myers, FL.
Besides his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Armand, and Anthony Lucido; and two sisters, Geraldine Lucido and Lucy Mularchik.
A prayer service will be held Friday, at 10:00 AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church at 10:30 AM with Fr. John Jerek officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Rosary Cemetery, Lowellville.
Friends will be received Thursday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
