New Springfield - James G. Birch, 44, of New Springfield, died Friday in St. Elizabeth Medical Center after suddenly becoming ill at work. Mr. Birch, affectionately known as Jimmy, was born September 11, 1962 in Youngstown, a son of Paul and Sally Hope Birch. He was raised in Struthers and moved to New Springfield in 2005. Jimmy was a 1981 graduate of Struthers High School and was most recently employed at Aluminum Color Industries in Lowellville, where he enjoyed his co-workers and day to day duties. He attended Struthers Presbyterian Church and enjoyed camping and cooking. Jimmy also had the knack for designing holiday displays and enjoyed celebrating the Christmas season. Jimmy was a family man who will be sadly missed and loved by all his friends and relatives. Jimmy always loved being with his nieces and watching his nephew's sporting events. He was a wonderful handyman and took great care of and enjoyed spending time with his mother. Jimmy was a kind and loving son, brother, and uncle. Besides his mother, Sally of New Springfield, and father, Paul of Struthers, Jimmy is survived by his one brother, P. Richard (Nancy) Birch of New Middletown; four sisters, Linda (Tom) Mountford of Struthers, Kathy (Bill) Mason of Hawkinsville, Ga, Terri (Don) Sumner of Orlando, FL, and Susan (Jack) Wynne also of Hawkinsville, GA; three nieces, Kristin (Mike) Fox and Lauren Birch both of New Middletown, and Courtney Mountford of Struthers; and one nephew, Patrick Birch of New Middletown. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Guy and Kate Birch and his maternal grandparents, James and Helen Hope. Funeral services will be held Monday, 7:00 p.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers with Rev. Steve Breazier officiating. A private interment will follow Tuesday in the Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland. Friends will be received Monday from 5-6:45 p.m. at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent at
