James D. Barone Jr

November 14, 1956 — January 30, 2014

STRUTHERS - James D. Barone, 57, affectionately known as "Jimmy," made the sunshine a little brighter and began his journey into the next chapter of his life on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014.
Born Nov. 14, 1956, in Youngstown, Jimmy was the first born son of James and Theresa Wilaj Barone and the son-in-law of Rich and Janet Kerens, whom loved him dearly.
He peacefully leaves behind, on this earth, until they meet again, his wife, the former Sandi Kerens, whom he married Sept. 15, 1979; and children Eric and Jamie. He loved his wife more than words could express and treasured every possible moment with his children and left them with nothing but beautiful memories.
Besides his parents and in-laws, Jimmy also leaves his sisters, Diane Barone, Debi (Doug) Posey, and Cindi Barone;a brother, Tim Barone; sister-in-law, Brenda (Kevin) Raney; nieces and nephews, Nichole Barone, Kyle and Marc Posey, Jessica and Austin Barone, Hailey and Courtney Boyer, and McKenzie and Brandon Raney; and many close friends.
Raised in Struthers, Jimmy was a 1974 graduate of Struthers High School. He began his career working as a Tool and Die Maker for Vinyl Tool and Die and presently for ECM in Hermitage, Pa., as a GFM operator. He also enjoyed working for the former Struthers Beer and Wine Center.
Jimmy enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was known for kind words, a generous heart, and always having a great story to tell. Jimmy coached Struthers baseball and softball leagues; and taught many lessons through the game. He enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds, golfing, vacationing, grilling and gardening.
"On Nov. 16, 2013, Jimmy lost one of his best friends, Scott Raybuck, also to colon cancer. They both fought a hard battle and are now together again watching over us."
The family would like contributions to be made to his friend's foundation for cancer prevention, "It's a Great Day to Be Alive" at any Chase Bank Branch, 985865039.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers, with Fr. John Jerek officiating.
Friends will be received Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home.
