Jacob Frederick Baun, 71 Boardman âa�" Jacob Frederick Baun, 71, of 7718 Amberwood Trail died Thursday in Salem Hospital after being stricken at the home of his son in Leetonia. Mr. Baun was born October 1, 1931 in Woodworth, Ohio. A son of Norman and Hazel Sprinkle Baun. He was a lifetime resident of the area. He was a 1950 graduate of Boardman High School and studied metallurgy at Youngstown State University for three years. Mr. Baun was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving as a sergeant in VMF 311 in the Korean conflict. Upon discharge from the Marine Corps, he was a Constable in Boardman. From 1956 to 1969 he worked in the metallurgy research department of the Youngstown Sheet and Tube. He was a carpenter and had worked out of Local 171 from 1972 to 1976. Form 1974 to 1976 he was the Poland Township Road Supervisor. From 1976 until his retirement in 1993 he was a carpenter/inspector for the Ohio Department of Transportation. After his retirement, he periodically worked as an inspector for the Ohio Turnpike Commission, last working in 2001. He was a member of the Western Star Lodge F & AM #21, the Valley of Youngstown Scottish Rite where he was a 32nd degree mason, Al Koran Shrine where he served as Scribe, the Youngstown Shrine Club where he served on the hospital speakers bureau and was a van driver in the Wheels of Mercy transporting children to and from the Erie Shrine Hospital, the Poland Masonic Breakfast Club. He was Past Patron of Miriam Chapter 62 of the Eastern Star, treasurer of AWAKE, Menâa�a��s Garden Club of America in Boardman Park and VFW York Drexler Post #5532 of Washingtonville. He leaves his wife, the former Rosemarie Pitoscia whom he married January 24, 1951; a daughter, Linda (Robert) Honneffer of Poland; two sons, Dan Baun of Boardman, Ken Baun of Leetonia; an uncle, Paul E. Baun of Boardman; four grandchildren, David and Kenneth Honneffer and Jake and Kate Marie Baun. His brother, Robert N. Baun and sister Mary Jane Graham are deceased. A funeral service will be at 3:00 PM Sunday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland where friends may call from 12:30 PM until 2:30 PM Sunday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland where a Masonic memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM.
