Struthers - Jackie Lee Parnell, 59 of Struthers, died Sunday, December 19, 2010 at his residence, following a short illness.
Mr. Parnell was born September 25, 1951 in Lawrence County, MO, a son of Alfred and Wilma Spence Parnell.
Mr. Parnell had worked for several local newspapers, and ran their sales crews, where he worked with teenage children. Jackie was a very positive person, and enjoyed working with children, and he had affected many of their lives. He enjoyed fishing, family vacations, working on cars, and was a jack-of-all-trades. Jackie attended Faith Fellowship in Struthers.
Jackie is survived by his wife of 35 years, the former Jennifer Ahmer, whom he married December 6, 1975, five daughters Jessica (Bill) Szczygiel of Struthers, JoEllen (Fiancé Doug Sherl) Parnell of Youngstown, Jackie (John) Doyle of Struthers, Jenna (Josh) Burrows of Struthers and Judith (Fiancé, Jay Shea) Parnell of Youngstown; five grandchildren - Anthony "AJ" Doyle, Mackenzie Burrows, Journey Parnell-Sherl, Gavin Burrows, Jaxon Parnell-Sherl ; two brothers Steven (Sandra) Parnell of Phoenix, AZ, and Rick Parnell of MO and a sister Peggy (Hal) Cantrell of Marshfield, MO.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Muirhead and two brothers, Robert and Gary Parnell.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, at 11:00 am at the Faith Fellowship Church, 238 Elm Street in Struthers.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.
